Traditionally teak roots were discarded as part of the Javan furniture industry. Without the extraction of these huge roots, the trees of which were felled mostly over 30 years ago, the land would be abandoned, rendering it expensive and impractical for further plantation.

Today, the wood that previously would have been burned is dug out by hand from the ground then cleaned, stripped, carved and sanded and used to create a stunning range of furniture with a distinctive style which makes every piece of furniture unique. This has made way for new plantations, which are government managed and has also created a whole new industry and many new jobs for the local community.

These pieces sit magnificently in the garden but also look striking when used in the home.
